Greyfriars Vineyard

Boutique producer of world class English Sparkling Wine.

The wines of Greyfriars Vineyard are made by the Wagstaff family, on the south facing chalk slopes of the Hog’s Back at Puttenham, just outside Guildford in Surrey.

A small number of vines were first planted at Greyfriars in 1989 but now the vineyards span almost 50 acres across three sites.

Hilary and Mike Wagstaff purchased Greyfriars in 2010 and have since turned a hobby scale vineyard into a commercial business producing boutique award-winning wines. They now have 75,000 vines, a state-of-the-art winery and a chalk underground cellar. It is their goal to make 100,000 bottles by 2020 and encourage the British public to drink more English sparkling wine.

The style of Greyfriars wine reflects the unique local soil conditions, climate and heritage of the Surrey North Downs.
